“The Foghorn” opens into roiling ocean… wind… cliffs… the persistent sound of a foghorn… the appearance of the first woman… the appearance of the second women… and then the man… the camera moving with the wind… the hand held camera in synchronization with the wind… the motion of the image… the exterior and the interior… the tempo of emotion… gaps… obsessions… the darkness of the ocean shore… the embryonic image… reeds… wind… R.S.

The Foghorn has two different time signatures. There is the film itself which runs for 7 minutes, and then there is the looped version which runs for 13 minutes. In the looped version the film is repeated when it comes to its first end.

The Foghorn loop – a reconsideration of the images – a more concentrated familiarization – the possibility of going deeper because the initial pattern has already been established. R.S.
